It’s still hard to imagine India’s captain cool, MS Dhoni, not leading the teams to victories in the future. Ever since he announced that he was retiring from both India’s ODI and T20 captaincy, fans of the sport have grappled with the bittersweet move, flooding the player with tributes from across the world.

Of course, perhaps the most touching of them all, came from the Indian team itself.

The day before the team was slated to play a T20 match against England, they got together and felicitated their captain with a photo-frame commemorating the biggest moments in Indian cricket that happened under his leadership.

The Indian team’s head coach and a legend in his own right, Anil Kumble took a moment to express his and the team’s gratitude towards Dhoni. He said, “On behalf of all the ten years that MS had led various teams. From all the players, support staff and obviously this group of players that is sitting here and support staff.”

Kumble went on to note that Dhoni has been nothing short of inspirational, adding, “Congratulations on being the inspirational leader that you’ve always been, for all the achievements you’ve had as captain of India and for many more years in this side.”

And fittingly it was the newly minted captain, Virat Kohli, who handed the memento to Dhoni. A video of the event has been posted on the team’s official Facebook page and has already been shared over 3,500 times and fans are taking to the comments section to talk about their most treasured “Dhoni moments.”
